    New Swim App!

Dolphin families – we are so excited for the first swim meet tonight!  The kids have done great at practice, and it should be a great night to cheer on all our swimmers!

We wanted to make you aware that there is a brand new app available this year created by the makers of our swim meet technology.  The app is called SwimminglyFan and it displays the heat sheet information within the app.  There are some fun advantages to this app, and there are a few notes we wanted to share with you.

    The fun stuff!

    • The free version of the app includes heat sheet viewing and notifications that your swimmer’s event is coming up.  This will help us not miss our proud swimmers’ events - AWESOME!
    • You can track your swimmer and others, and easily pull up all the events for your swimmer within the app to make those Sharpie arm details even easier to scribe!
    • You can also try the paid version for free for 3 weeks, which I believe will show live updates during the meet, but after the trial period it is $14.99 per year…

    Important notes:

    • This app will NOT work for the invitational as that meet (with all the teams) runs on different technology.
    • For each meet, there are likely to be changes to the line-up AFTER the heat sheets are sent, and those changes will NOT be included in the app.  For example, there are several changes to tonight’s heat sheets that we are manually making today on paper that will not show in the app.  This tends to happen for the first official meet :)  Just a reminder that we do ask that you PLEASE declare whether your child will participate in the meet before the deadline to help avoid these changes for future meets!
    • Each of the neighborhood pools is a little different in length, so while the events are listed as 12/25/50/100 yards, the actual distance varies a bit by pool.  What this means is that your child will look like they have superstar times in some pools, and maybe not so much in others… :)  Do not be surprised if you see some inconsistency on times – it may be the pool and not the swimmer!
    • The times that get incorporated are only as good as the ability for the tech system and volunteer timers to both work perfectly, and that does not always happen!  This league is recreational, and while we love to see your swimmers improve during the summer and we enjoy celebrating their successes during the meets, we ask for your understanding if a time does not get recorded exactly as you would expect.
    • For the reasons noted above, our summer swim league times are not official for use in any other swimming competitions.

Thanks and see you at the pool!!
